Due to the lack of studies and conflicting recommendations of experts, until now there was clear answer for this.

A new study, published in the journal “Nutrition Journal”, provides first scientific evidence. As indicated, the restriction of fruit does not provide any particular benefit to diabetics.

According to The another study at the ‘Oregon Health Sciences University’ USA, which is the first randomized clinical study that deals with the issue, the researchers recruited 75 overweight men and women with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes. At the half, however, was set to cut the fruit in a day (about 135 grams, corresponding to an orange for example) and others to eat daily at least twice the amount (about 320 grams per day), objective was to determine how much influence the levels of hemoglobin (HbA1c), and this protein shows the configuration of glucose (sugar) levels in recent months.

After 12 weeks all subjects lost weight, but those who ate more fruits had lost more weight. Furthermore, the HbA1c no difference between the two groups, While additional and larger studies, the researchers note in their article that "given the many potential benefits that provide fruit, we recommend not limiting fruit consumption in patients with type 2 diabetes."
