Less Food, Better Memory

The Decrease in food expenditure by 600 calories a day can get better memory and learning, according to a new study. The study was conducted by scientists at the Oregon Health Sciences University, USA, and was the subject of "caloric restriction" - the theory that the deprivation diet can benefit your health and prolong life. Scientists have known for years the phenomenon, but try to understand what the few calories that can benefit your health.

The researcher of `College of Health Sciences` Virginia, USA focused their study on a protein called CREB1 and is known to play an important role in memory and learning. In experiments with mice, they found that caloric restriction improve learning, stimulating the production of the protein in the brain. The food animal fell by only 25-30% - quantity in humans corresponds to about 600 calories a day.

According to experts of “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences” (PNAS): As explained, a decrease of 25-30% of daily calories "is like not eat dessert after every meal," The preservation of memory and learning ability is extremely important, since modern humans have increased life expectancy."Our findings may have important impact on the conception of future treatments to maintain health and prevent brain degeneration," also said "We hope to find a way, like a drug to activate the CREB1 and maintaining youthful brain, without the need of a strict diet."
